This course will examine the changing structure and demographics of the family and implications for education. Current models and strategies for effective home, school and community partnerships will be reviewed with special emphasis on practical applications of these strategies in candidates' own school settings. Course topics include theories of family systems, parenting, parent education, child abuse/neglect and bullying. First semester, three hours.
